If you already own a Palm PDA, and it takes an SD card, you probably already have 80% of the cost covered. If you have an SD memory card, you have covered another 10% of the cost. If you have an SD memory card adapter for your computer, you have everything that you need. If you already have those things, skip down to How To Load Compulife to Your PDA.
If you don't own a Palm, or you need an SD card and/or adapter, Compulife can provide you with that hardware. Compulife has decided that we will become a clearinghouse for high quality, used Palm PDA's. We will be providing subscribers with fully tested Palm PDA's at highly competitive prices. Our objective is to help our subscribers keep their start-up costs low. Later, once you have grasped the power of this tool, we expect that you will toss away the lower cost equipment and upgrade to even more powerful versions. There are more powerful PDA's that can double as your telephone, digital camera, etc. Compulife's goal is to get you started for little out-of-pocket expense.
But if you are just getting starting with a Palm, walk before your run.
Compulife's initial low cost recommendation is the Palm Tungsten E.
You can get a new Palm Tungsten E(2) from Palm for $199. Click here for details.
Palm also sells seconds (used Palm Tungsten E2's) at discount prices.
IMPORTANT: Compulife will be offering used Tungsten E Palm PDAs for $129 or $99 (read on). Please don't feel you have to buy your Palm PDA from Compulife. There are lots of retailers offering new Palm products at competitive prices and you should feel free to go to them.
Click here for a sample list of Tungsten E/E2 retailers.
Compulife doesn't care who you buy your Palm from; we just care that you get your hands on one and start using it. The Palm is going to make you money.
REMEMBER, the Palm software from Compulife is NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE!
What about warranty?
Palm products from Palm come with 90 day warranties.
If you buy a used Palm from Compulife we will warrant that used Palm for 90 days. If it ceases to function (assuming it has not been physically broken or given a bath), return it to Compulife and we will replace it with another used Palm.
How much for the SD memory card?
Because the entire Compulife program takes less than 15 megabytes, we are offering 32mb SD cards for $15. Once again, you do not have to buy the SD card from Compulife you can feel free to buy the SD card from someone else. Higher capacity cards are available and come in storage capacities up to one or two gigabytes. Having noted that, 32 megabytes is more than enough for Compulife. We recommend you buy an SD card that you use just for Compulife.
How much for the SD card adapter?
Compulife will be selling the SD card adapter for $15. This is a key component. Those who already own a Palm will be familiar with HotSync but Compulife MUST be run from the SD card and you will need the SD adapter for Compulife to be able to update your SD card properly. We strongly advise against using HotSync to set up Compulife for your Palm.
The SD card plugs into the adapter which then plugs into the USB port of your computer. The adapter turns your SD card into a disk drive. From the Install Next Update option on the Compulife Red Menu, you will be able to load the Palm version of Compulife to the SD card. When you select the option Compulife automatically transfers files from your computer to the card. As mentioned earlier, this takes less than 30 seconds. Once Compulife has copied the files to the SD card you take the adapter out of the computer, take the card out of the adapter and stick the SD card into the Palm.
Once you place the SD card into the Palm, an icon called "Compulife" will pop up on the Palm screen. When you click on the Compulife icon the client entry screen appears. When you click on the icon, the Palm version of Compulife starts.

* Grade B Palm Tungsten E is a used unit that we believe is in very very good functional condition but does shows normal wear and tear. The Grade B Palm comes with Compulife's 90 day replacement warranty.
Compulife also has what we call Grade A Tungsten E's which are both functionally and cosmetically in very good condition. A grade A Tungsten E will cost an extra $30.
Click here for full details and a price list of other accessories available from Compulife for the Palm
NOTE: prices shown are in U.S. dollars. Canadian brokers will be able to purchase the units in Canadian dollars at the then current exchange rates, and are subject to applicable federal and provincial sales taxes.
So your total cost for a used Palm Tungsten E, a new SD card and a new SD adapter can be as little as $129 plus shipping and handling. Once again, Compulife warrants this package for 90 days against failure (other than damage caused by misuse).
We'll Buy it Back From You in 90 Days
In addition to the 90 day replacement warranty, we are offering a 90 day rebate if you want to get back 50% of the cost of your Palm. If for some reason you decide, after using this equipment, that it was a mistake to buy it, or you now want to get newer or more powerful equipment, Compulife will refund 50% of your purchase price at the end of 90 days (for any part of your purchase not including shipping and handling). If you return the $129 package in good condition, you will receive $65 cash from Compulife.
THINK ABOUT IT! THAT'S LIKE RENTING AND TRYING THIS TECHNOLOGY FOR ONLY $20 per month!!!!
And if you want to return the Palm, and keep the SD card and adapter for a newer more powerful PDA, we'll give you a refund on your Palm which means you will have rented the Palm for $16.50 per month.
This is also designed to line up with the "Dare to Compare" challenge and give agents, during their 4 month free subscription, a chance to try the Palm. If they decide NOT to buy Compulife, then they can get back half the cost of the Palm equipment (if purchased from Compulife).
And if the Palm makes you money, and you want to splurge on a newer, more expensive, more powerful Palm, you can do so after having given a low cost model a try.
If you don't own a Palm and want to go shopping for one...
Can we recommend that you first buy the SD card from Compulife before you go shopping. Compulife will provide you with a "preloaded" 32 megabyte card that will have the current edition of Compulife together with the newest version of the Palm PDA software. For $15 plus $5 shipping and handling you will get a card you can try out on Palms down at your local electronic or cell phone store.
You can then take that card with you and try it on the Palm before you buy it. It is important to see how the software works on the Palm that you are going to buy before you put down money for a new one. Remember, if you buy the package from Compulife, rest assured it will have been tested and will run Compulife properly.
Do I have to Buy the Palm Tungesten E?
No! We have tested the new software on all the new Palms currently available. These include the less expensive Palm Zire 31 and the Palm Zire 72. We also tested the software on the Palm Treo 650 which is a PDA, cell phone and camera combined (and it's fast). We have also tested the software on a number of older Palm products and apart from speed, they all function well providing that they have an SD card slot.
The reason we like the Tungsten E or E2 is the display. It is one of the largest displays, is color and backlit. In fact compared to many of the Windows Mobile PDA's that cost much more, it is hard to beat the Tungsten E screen. Keeping in mind that the Palm will be used to show a prospect insurance comparisons the quality of the display is important and the Tungsten E is fabulous. The other reason we like the Tungsten E is because it is very simple to operate. You will be up-to-speed on the Tungsten E very quickly.
Do I have to Use the SD Adapter that Compulife sells?
No! Any SD adapter that your computer recognizes and which lets you read and write to an SD card will be fine. When you put the SD card into the adapter and plug that into your computer, it will show up as though it is a disk drive. As long as you know what drive the SD card is, (E:, F:, whatever) Compulife's Windows program will be able to update the card in the drive.
Can I Use the Palm HotSync to load Compulife?
We STRONGLY discourage this. While it is possible to load Compulife using HotSync, you still need to use an SD card for Compulife's data files. Compulife's data files cannot be loaded and run from the Palm itself.
While you can HoySync to the Card, Compulife will not be offering ANY technical support for those who use HotSync to load Compulife to the Palm. If you are technically competent in transferring files using HotSync, you may be able to go ahead and use that method (remember you still need the SD card). But if you run into trouble and call us, we will ask you about your SD card adapter and if we find out you are not using the adapter, we will not be able to help you further.
Please remember, Compulife is NOT CHARGING YOU EXTRA FOR PALM software. You can't expect Compulife to introduce new software for free, only to end up with more technical support issues and costs because you want to do things differently and then get into trouble.
Before we explain how all this works, here is some important fine print:
NOTE: Compulife will not sell PDA's or accessories to anyone but Compulife subscribers. Compulife subscribers include agents using Compulife during the Dare to Compare challenge period.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Agents who purchase Compulife's "Term4Sale - Agent Edition" software will NOT be receiving PDA software with that subscription. Therefore, Compulife will not be selling PDA products to Term4Sale - Agent Edition customers. As always, agents who want to upgrade from that edition to the full version of Compulife, can do so on a pro-rated basis.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: PDA products are available one per software license. An agency licensee can buy 10 PDA's from Compulife providing that the agency has purchased a Compulife license agreement for each of the 10 agents (remember, the sub-agent price drops from $199 to $99 for groups of 10 or more). Compulife's PDA software is subject to the same licensing restrictions as set out in the Compulife license agreements. Agencies are allowed one PDA load from an agency system.
How To Load Compulife to Your PDA
Let's conclude by reviewing the overall concept.
First, all the software that you will need to run Compulife on your PDA is updated to your desktop or laptop computer when you obtain your monthly update from Compulife. The only thing you will need to do is transfer the software to the SD card using the SD card adapter. There is a new option in the Windows version of Compulife that does this with a single click. When the transfer is complete, you will place the card into the Palm and you are ready to go.
